B engaluru Division of South Western Railway,launched today (30.10.2023) a month-long drive against pelting stones on running trains and against carrying inflammable articles in trains and Railway premises.
A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers and Staff of the division has been formed to carry out the drive as per the instructions of Shri Manoj Yadava, Director General,RPF,New Delhi.
The team will organize various programmes such as Nukkad Nataks and counselling sessions under the guidance of Yogesh Mohan,Divisional Railway Manger, Bengaluru to educate the public about safety of Rail travelers.
The programmes will be conducted in various Railway Stations and also in the localities near the railway tracks where incidents of stone throwing have been reported.
A “Nukkad Natak”was conducted today near “Sri Krishnadevaraya”Halt Railway Station to commence the drive.
Pelting stones on trains is a criminal offence punishable with a fine or imprisonment for a term up to five years or both under the section-153 and 154 of Railway Act 1989.
Carrying inflammable material during the train journey is a punishable offence with punishment of imprisonment up to 3 years or a fine up to Rs.1000/- or both under Section 164 of the Railway Act,1989.
