T he Upparpet police have cracked a theft case and arrested a 34-year-old cab driver and three of his associates for stealing One Crore cash from a arecanut trader .
The accused have been identified as Swamy,a resident of Holalkere in Chitradurga was working for Umesh,a Arecanut trader for the past 15 years.
He used to ferry Umesh across the state for business trips.Swamy realized that Umesh was carrying one crore cash to purchase Arecanut and conspired with his female friend Anupama,38 and her two friends Pawan and,30,and Karthik, 27 to loot the money.
Swamy also shared a duplicate key of the car with his associates and they followed him in the car.
On October 21,Umesh came to Bengaluru and asked Swamy to stop for lunch at a hotel in Gandhinagar before heading to Paying guest in Chandra Layout to meet his children who are studying and staying in PG.
While Swamy and Umesh went inside the hote,The accused stole the cash bag using duplicate key and escaped .
The theft came to light when Umesh returned home and found the cash bag was missing.Unsuspecting Umesh rushed to Upparpet and filed a complaint.
The police analyzed the CCTV Footage from in and around and also suspected Swamy involvement and kept a tab.
The Analysis of the clues and information the police picked up Swamy for questioning who confessed to the crime.
Based on his confession,Inspector Maruthi and his team arrested the remaining three persons and recovered 90.19 lakh cash,and expensive I phone, watches,a car and a bike from them which they had purchased from the rest of the money.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,B Dayananda has appreciated Addl CP West,Satheesh Kumar,DCP West, S.Girish,ACP,Ramesh Kumar,PI,Maruthi,PSI and whole crime team for cracking the case in a record time a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
