Pregnant Woman and her elderly neighbour run over by speeding truck in Hebbagodi

A 28-year-old Pregnant woman and her 50 year old neighbour were killed on the spot when a speeding truck run over them while they were crossing the road close to Narayana Hrudayalaya on Hosur Bengaluru highway on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as P.Rukhiya, 28,Bodimaladinni,Madana palli.AP and Lakshmamma 50,mudra Nagar Varthur.

Rukhiya was seven month old pregant and had come with her relative to Rabiya to consult the doctor.

Senior officer said the incident occurred at around 11 am when the trio who got down at the bus stop crossing the highway passing through a gap of the barricade close to the hospital and knock down by speeding truck .

The duo came under the moving truck and killed on the spot.Rabiya escaped narrowly and filed a complaint with the police later.

The Hebbagodi police rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving.

The police said that though there was a skywalk put up by authorities very few people prefer and majority of them cross the road dangerously.

This is because majority of the road users are women and patients who could not afford to climb the stairs,a police officer,said .

Besides the skywalk situated away from the bus stop following which people manages to find a gap at the barricades and cross illegally .

Despite reminders and deploying police to prevent jay walking people prefer to cross the road on the highway endangering their lives, he added.

There is a high time that the skywalk should have an elevator which can help people especially women and patients to use the skywalk and prevent accidents.
