n a 20 days long operations,the Vyyalikaval police posing as prospective customers busted a wildlife trade act and arrested five smugglers who were selling sand board, elephant tusk and six pairs of deer horns .
Senior officer told reporters,Based on a tip off,a team of police led by Inspector Shankaragowda Basanagoudara carried a 20 days long operation and later approached the accused on three different places and lured them into the trap .
It was very difficult to convince the accused who would not meet in person until they are convinced and conduct background check for their safety.
The team have made elaborate plan to create their identity and cooked up a story that they are wildlife article collectors to convince the accused before they appear along with the wildlife articles.
While the police team first arrested Chandrashekhar MD,43 from Mysuru red handed while he came up with two sand boas to sell,the next day,the team as per the plan pin down Rangaswamy,38 from Tumakuru and Lokesh, 33,from Kanakapura along with a elephant tusk.
We suspect that the duo was part of the poachers group who are hunting down wildlife in the forest area in and around Ramanagar and investigations are on to ascertain the source of the tusk.
Meanwhile the same team nabbed Shekhar KM,40, Nagamangala in Mandya and his associate Raymond Mariyappa,45,from Ramanagar and recovered six pairs of deer horns which they brought to the city to sell it to the police, team.
The duo suspected to be part of the hunter group which hunt down deer to consume its meat and sell the horns for a price .
All the accused have been booked under various sections of Wildlife act and investigating further.
City police commissioner,B.Dayananda,lauded Addl CP West,N Satheesh Kumar,DCP Central,Shekhar T,ACP,R Prakash,PI,Shankargowda Basanagoudara and his whole team for the exemplary and meticulous investigation and tireless efforts done by the team in nabbing all the five Smugglers red handed and a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
