The Gangammanangudi police on Friday busted a passport racket and arrested a man who is getting passports to illegal immigrants through dubious means.
Based on a tip off,a team of police raided Srikrishna computers on Abbigere main road and arrested the owner Krishnamurthy on Friday charging him under various sections of Passport act and also under forgery of IPC.
Investigations revealed that the accused would help illegal immigrants to get the passports done by creating fake rental agreements using which he would get their PAN and Aadhar cards before applying for the passport .
The accused would charge hefty amount from his clients and said to have helped many illegal immigrants to get passport. The police have taken the accused into custody for further investigations.
It may be recalled that South Division police had busted similar racket and arrested three persons including software engineer who were involved in getting passport for Sri Lankan Nationals and anti social elements in November last year .
Meanwhile NIA officials on Wednesday carried raids across 15 places and detained 8 Bangladesh nationals who are staying in and around Bengaluru illegally.
The officials said that the detained persons are part of the human trafficking racket which is operated by a group of people across the country.
These immigrants according to the officials are being brought into the country through porous borders promising jobs .
The accused posing as migrants labourers from Northeast states settle in and around the city in slum areas to work as labourers and rag pickers before getting valid Indian passports.
