Child sale racket busted by CCB Seven among six women arrested

The Central Crime Branch officials on Sunday busted a child sale racket and arrested a gang of seven including six women.

The officials were also rescued a 20-days old baby boy who the accused had bought from Tamilnadu to sell it to a childless couple in Rajaraj eshwarinagar .

The accused has been identified as, Mahalaxmi the kingpin of the racket and her associates as,Sharanya,Gommathi,Hemalatha,Kannanswamy,Suhasini,and

Radha,

Based on a tip off,a team led by police inspector Nayaz and his team got info by a alcoholic person who gave vital clues while in inebriated state based on which the team kept a close watch and intercepted a car and arrested the accused after a hot pursuit when they tried to escape.

City police Commissioner,B.Dayananda,said that the kingpin of the racket,a woman who had sold three of her children earlier,used to run the racket .

Explaining the Modus Operandi,Mr.Dayananda,said that the accused would approach poor women in Tamilnadu and convince them to surrogate child.

They also contact pregnant women who wanted to terminate due to financial difficulties or those who had delivered and could not afford to take care of their child.

The accused would buy the child from them for a price of Rs.2 lakh and sell it to the childless couple for Rs.8 to 10 lakh.

The accused were operating between Tamilnadu and Bengaluru for many years and suspected to have sold as many as 10 children so far, he said .

The accused would contact childless couple in and around the city who visit hospital and promised to get them new born children.

They would also prepare fake birth certificates including the names of new parents of the child to avoid legal complications,he said.

We suspect the role of many private hospitals and doctors in Chennai and investigations are on to track them down.

Initially the role of three hospitals and some doctors have come to the notice out of which two hospitals have already been shut down its operations due to similar allegations in Tamilnadu.

The accused have been taken into custody and efforts are on to track down the beneficiaries and other accused involved in the racket.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,B Dayananda, has appreciated Addl CP West and additional charge of CCB,N Satheesh Kumar,DCP Crime, Srinivas Gowda,PI,Nayaz and his whole team who camped and worked for almost 2 months and gathered information about the racket and with the tireless efforts the team caught seven accused and with their commendable job of busting a big child selling racket a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
