CM Siddaramaiah said that Bhimanna Khandre is a born fighter and his struggle was also the reason for Bidar to remain in Karnataka.
He was speaking after inaugurating the birth centenary programme of Dr.Bhimanna Khandre and released the book “Lokanayak”The programme was jointly
organized by All India Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha and Dr.Bhimanna Khandre Birth Centenary Committee.
Heeding to Mahatma Gandhi’s call he got involved in the freedom struggle.Later,he became active in the Karnataka Unification Movement and fought uncompromisingly to keep Bidar district in Karnataka.
His struggle is recorded in this soil.The CM expressed his appreciation that Bhimanna Khandre has paid the debt of the society and led a meaningful life.
A true follower of Basavanna,Bhimanna Khandre worked hard to spread Vachana literature in the entire state .
The Vachanas aspire for an equal society without any caste discrimination.850 years ago,Basavanna established Anubhava Mantapa and wiped out the upper and lower divisions and laid the foundation for a parallel society.He said that Bhimanna Khandre has walked through this tradition.
Basavadi Sharanas work and literature will remain forever as long as there is caste discrimination in this society.
He said that if we want to maintain the democratic system formed by the struggle of great men like Sharanas and Ambedkar,social and economic discrimination should go.
Centenary Reception Committee Chairman Dr. Shamanur Shivashankarappa presided over the programme.
The programme was held under the divine presence of Tarabalu Jagadguru Sirigere Sri 1108 Dr.Shivamurthy Shivacharya Mahaswamy.
