In a swift action the city police managed to track down the source of the threat mails to school,which created panic among the parents and school managements and forced the police to be on their toes the whole day.
Terming the act as cyber terrorism,the city police along with cyber crime division track down the source of the mail to Cyprus from where the mail was sent.
The accused had used a private domain to sent the mail.The police are trying to get the details of the accused .
The accused had also sent similar mails to Germany in May this year and Carribean Island in October and Malaysia in November before targeting the city on December 1.
The city police are communicating with the counterparts of the other countries seeking coordination for further investigations.
Similar threat mail was sent to some schools in the city in 2022 and the police felt that going by the MO it could be the same person. the accused in the case is yet to be arrested .
Earlier Home Minister G Parameshwar held a meeting with the senior police officials including Director General and Inspector General of Police,Alok Mohan, City Police Commissioner,B Dayananda and Additional Commissioner of Police, Satheesh Kumar to get an update on the case .
Mr. Parameshwar asked the police to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in future .
The police are contemplating to step up security measures at the school and colleges.A senior police officer hoped that students in the city should not be inspired by such incidents and started sending threat mails to get holidays.
