he North Division cyber crime police on Friday arrested a gang of eight who were running“courier racket online .
The police team have recovered Rs.13.17 lakh,11 mobile phones and seized 148 bank accounts from them.
Senior officer told reporters the accused identified as Waseem N,30,Habeebullah M,Mushriff Khan,B Nurulla Khan,Mohammed Umar and Syed Ahmed posing as courier executives call random people and threaten them that a parcel was found with banned items in their name and they have alerted Mumbai crime branch officials for probe.
Few minutes later one of the accused posing as Mumbai crime branch police officer call them and threatened to book a case against them under smuggling contraband .
On the pretext of investigations,the accused take access to the bank accounts of the victims and transfer the money .
Using this Modus Operandi,the accused duped a home maker in Yeshwanthpur and forced her to transfer a total sum of Rs.1.08 crores from her account .
Based on the complaint,a team of police led by DCP North Division Saidulu Adawath and Inspector Shivaratna S, and her team track down the account transaction and found that the accused had withdrawn cash at RBL bank branch in Davanagere .
The police team obtained the CCTV footage to identify the accused and arrested them.
Investigations revealed that apart from two cases reported in the north division,the accused were involved in over 75 criminal cases registered around the country and further investigation is on.

Shivarathna S,PSIs,as,Raju,Bhanuprakash,and staff as, Jayaprakash,and Ramakrishna and other crime staff has been appreciated for their meticulous investigation and tireless efforts to nab these eight fraudsters who were cheating people by opening online fake courier service and cheating people by threatening them that a parcel containing banned items has come in their name and threatening to foist a false case posing as Mumbai crime branch officers with the meticulous investigation by the team a biggest racket busted by team for the commendable job done by the team a special reward will be given to whole team he added.
