Traffic violations segregated in two categories and directed traffic heads to focus on violations under category -1

Concerned over the rising accidents and the lack of discipline among road users,Seemanth Kumar Singh,Additional Director General of Police for traffic and road safety has segregated the types of violations in two categories and directed the traffic heads to focus on the list of violations in the category 1 .

In the circular issued on Friday,Seemanth Kumar Singh directed the traffic police heads to focus on 26 offences listed in the category 1 .

Among them drunk driving and rash and negligent driving were at the top of the list.Use of mobile phone while riding or driving, jumping traffic signals, performing stunts on the road,lane indiscipline, overtaking from wrong side,riding on footpath,riding without helmet or driving without seat belt,riding on rooftop,carrying excess passengers in public transport or children in school buses,triple riding,parking on footpath or haphazard parking on roads and riding against one way are the offences which needed immediate attention.

The idea is to bring order to the chaotic streets. Recognizing the need to prioritize violations,he introduced a new strategy that involved categorizing offenses into different types.

The most severe violations,Type 1,were to be the focus of their immediate attention.

The type-2 violations are less serious in nature which includes using high beams lights or glaring head lights , using shrill horns and defective silencers,carrying lengthy materials,footpath encroachments,riding or driving without permit,demanding excess fares, refuse to go on hire,using vehicle without display boards and using vehicle with defective number plates,using black films in the windows of the vehicle,driving of heavy vehicle during no entry timing and refused to submit documents comes under category -2 .

All though these measures are already in practice and some of the violations have been taken on top priority based on the nature.

Conducting special drive on drunk and drive to pin down the offenders regularly with a hefty fine along with the cases under IMV Act compounding with other violations .

Public awareness programs were also initiated to educate citizens about the dangers of driving under the influence at the jurisdictional level .

Special drives were also on to check rash and negligent driving through enforcement cameras installed across the city clubbed with strict penalties for offenders and educational initiatives aimed at promoting responsible driving habits.

Speed limits were rigorously enforced, and surveillance cameras were installed in accident-prone areas to monitor and deter reckless behavior.

The schools and companies are being targeted by jurisdictional police and creating awareness to follow traffic rules and road discipline,a senior police officer, said .

However the circular more importantly focussed on the other cities and towns which have different scenerio , compared to Bengaluru city .
