Amidst political blame game over the Belagavi stripping incident,the state government handed over the case to CID for a detailed investigations.
The Investigating officer of this case,ACP,Girish has been directed to hand over the file pertaining to the case to the CID and assist them in the investigations.
The incident where 42-year-old woman from Hosa Vantamuri village in Belagavi was attacked by an armed group before being assaulted stripped and paraded naked before being tied to a pole and assaulted again after her son allegedly eloped with a woman related to the accused .
The jurisdictional Kakati police rushed to the village rescued her from the pole and gave her clothes to wear before taking her to the hospital for treatment.
Police had arrested 13 accused in this case so far while some are still on the run.
Earlier Home minister,Dr.G Parameshwara and public works Minister,Satish Jharkiholi visited the victim house and assured to extend all possible help to get justice and rehabilitation.
The government also suspended few police officials in the case on the charges of dereliction of duty while handling the case .
Meanwhile union government taking a strong exception on the incident,sent a team of officials from National Human Rights Commission to probe.
The Opposition BJP party members in the state protested demanding justice for the victims and alleged that the accused are affiliated to congress party and that is the reason there was an delay in the investigation.
On Saturday,Additional Director General of Police ( law and order) R Hithendra has written a letter to Director General of Police CID to take over the case while marking a copy to the commissioner of Police,Belagavi city to hand over the case with immediate effect .
The case file should be handed over to the CID for further investigation .
Mr.Hithendra in his letter directed the commissioner of police to send the case file with the concerned Io to handed personally to IO of CID.
After completion of the investigation a detailed report be sent back to the ADGP law and order.
