C hief Minister Siddaramaiah opined that Constitution is our religion and following political religion is respect given to the Constitution.

He was speaking after inaugurating Press Club of Bangalore’s”Person of the Year-Special Person”and annual award ceremony and releasing the 2024 Press Club Diary.

“This Constitution of ours was enacted after a long and meaningful discussion.Therefore,it is the duty of all political parties and individuals to respect and obey this constitution,he said.

“Advocating for the underprivileged, supporting the voiceless, reporting news objectively is the fundamental value of journalism.

Adherence to these values ​​is the respect given to the Constitution.The CM advised not to conduct a huge discussion about a crow sitting on his car and propagate superstition.

Journalists should have the courage to point out wrong doing of the government.In the pre-independence era, there was a discussion and dream of development of the country.

Now the media is in the hands of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs have no social concerns.Journalists should be careful about this,he said.

Person of the year awardee,Deputy Chief Minister,D.K Shivakumar was appreciated by the CM on the occasion as an astute organizer and an active person.

‘I did not leave JDS.I was expelled from JDS.Therefore, it is not right to write that I left the JDS party while reporting and conducting analysis,he said.

Deputy Chief Minister,D.K.Shivakumar was awarded Person of the Year,former Minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa,who was awarded with special person award.Labour Minister,Santos Lad,CM’s political Secretary K.Govindaraju were honoured with awards.

Retired Justice of Supreme Court,Shivaraj Patil gave away the awards.

CM’s Media Advisor,K.V.Prabhakar,Media co-ordinator to DCM Tyagaraj and others were present.
