he Central Crime Branch officials on Tuesday arrested a house-break theft offender who posing as Lokayukta inspector tried to extort money from a government servant threatening him with a complaint .
The accused Sreenath Reddy,native of Andhra Pradesh, is a habitual offender involved in similar offences in Andhra Pradesh and in and around Bengaluru.
The accused had called a officer working in Vikas Soudha informing him that a case a petition has been filed against him.
Offering to help,he demanded money to get the inquiry close through a report from Technical team.
Unable to bear the harassment,the officer filed a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police.The case was transferred to CCB who track down the accused and arrested him.
The accused had similar cases in Ananthpur and Rajahmudry town,Siddapura and High grounds police station limits where he had cheated many government officials introducing himself as Lokayukta Inspector, Chandrashekhar and extorted money.
The accused is a habitual offender involved in house break thefts in Begur,Electronic city,Attibele, Hebbagoudi,Jigani,Surya city and Kolar police station limits a senior officer said.
