n a swift action the Parappana Agarahara police cracked the case of kidnapping a 60-year-old industrialist by a gang of five in a bid to extort one crore from him on Friday.
The victim,Tangaraju,resident of HSR Layout and owner of a aluminium factory in Veerasandra Industrial estate, was driving his car to office when the accused confronted him near SBI circle in electronic city.
The accused dragged him out of the car at a gun point and forced him in their car,and drove away,while few accused took control of Tangaraju’s car to follow .
The ordeal began soon when the accused took away his mobile phone and forced him to wear black colored goggles .
The accused claiming to be police officials,slapped punched and threatened him with dire consequences demanding a ransom of Rs.1 crore for his release.
When Tangaraju pleaded to them that he did not have that much huge amount to pay,the accused threatened to abduct his brother-in-law and murder him.,
After few hours of torture the accused stopped the car , returned the mobile phone and pushed him out before fleeing away.
Tangaraju took sometime to recover from the shock , called his family to inform before alerting the police.
Based on the complaint,the police swung into action and analyzed the CCTV images before zeroing in on one of the accused .
The accused are habitual offenders having similar cases pending against them, a police officer, said adding that efforts are on to track down others who are on the run.
