The work on providing tap water to all the villages in the Shiggaon Assembly constituency under the Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed by December this year, said former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking after performing the Bhumi Puja for the work to Leo ide drinking water to every house as part of Ganga scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the year 2022-23 at Tadas village in the Shiggaon taluk on Sunday.
Bommai said there were several natural reasons in providing drinking water. Two attempts to implement the multi-villages drinking water scheme, despite proposal, failed.
At that time, the Jal Jeevan Mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi came as a big boon. This scheme was funded by both the state and the union governments.
Out of Rs.438 crore earmarked for the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme for Shiggaon,Savanur and Hangal taluks,Rs.3 crore has been given to Tadas village. Around 2500 houses would get tap water.
Even after 75 years of independence,a number of villages were denied of drinking water in the State. As many as 25 lakh houses had been given tap water in the last 25 years but in the last three years,30 lakh houses have got the tap connection. This credit would go to the previous BJP government.
Union Minister for Coal Pralhad Joshi and local leaders were present.
