Additional Director General of Police,police computer Wing,Pronab Mohanty,has been given concurrent charge of the newly created post of ADGP Cyber economics and Narcotics.
With this the Criminal Investigation Department having two vertical headed by ADGP for economic offences and ADGP,CID added the third vertical of ADGP exclusively for cyber crime cases.
The CID had proposed the government to grant two senior posts to monitor and handle growing cyber crime cases effectively .
According to the sources as many as 18,000 cases related to cyber crimes registered in the year 2013 with a maximum detection rate of seven per cent .
Besides Cyber Crime,the CID was handling Narcotics, Human Trafficking,organised crime and Nodal officer for specialized crime with national and international interest, proposed the government for a competent officials for speedy and effective supervision on cyber crimes to take the cases to logical ends.
The existing CEN police stations which are not adequate to handle the growing incidents with minimal rate of investigation,training,research and development.
