hief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday announced that Creating eight additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) positions for each division in the city to enhance the capability of the city police in handling crime,maintaining law and order,and addressing cybercrime effectively.
Addressing the media after senior police officers annual conference meet,Mr.Siddaramaiah,said that an additional eight senior police officials positions of the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police,will also be created to head the cyber crime and narcotics station to investigate cases effectively .
Elaborating on his plans he said that effective investigations will leads to increase in convictions rates having deterrent effect and reduction in crime rates.
One of the main reason for low conviction rates is due to poor investigations and delay in submitting charge-sheets,he said .
He reiterated that the Investigation officers should submit the charge sheet within 60 days and should avail the help of special public prosecution,if needed .
He further added that the conviction rate should exceeds the national conviction rate and the police officials should work hard to achieve the target .
In addition to this increasing beat system to monitor law and order effectively especially focus should be more on the anti social elements and mischief mongers who try to disturb communal harmony ahead of parliamentary elections .
He said that the law and order situation in the state has improved since the last eight months the development of state depending upon the quality of the law and order situation which will investments and business opportunities.This means more employment and economical growth in the state.
The police have been instructed to safeguard the interest of weaker sections of the society especially women and lower section of the society.
The police should provide necessary protection to people living alone.Senior police officials should visit the stations frequently to supervise and guide the police .
Silver Medals for police officers:To commemorate Golden Jubilee on state formation.On this occasion the state government has increased the medical allowance from Rs.1,000 to Rs.1,500, Mr.Siddaramaiah,said .
He further said that the state police should make the state drug free state and in the last six months seized Rs.27 crore worth 4484 kilos of marijuana and 23 kilos of synthetic drugs.
The state government has issued orders to destroy the seized drugs in the first week of February.
