Out of 1308 cases 762 cases has been convicted at the end of January this year 50 percent conviction rates achieved says B Dayananda City Police Commissioner

n an effort to Speeding Up The Process Of criminal Investigation And trial, the city police has completed the inquiries into 1308 cases out of which 762 cases have been convicted at the end of January this year.

City police Commissioner B.Dayananda said that with this the city police had achieved the target of 50 per cent conviction rates,so far and efforts are on to add to the percentage.

According to him four out of 762 cases related to POCSO where the court sentenced the accused with maximum punishment of 20 years and fine.

These cases according to him reported in four different stations since the year 2017,2020 and 2022 .

In another four cases, the accused have been awarded maximum punishment of 14 years to 20 years,while two cases the accused have been sentenced with one year of imprisonment .

Three other cases the accused have been sentenced with less than one year and 845 accused in 753 cases have been slapped with fine as part of conviction.

In addition to this,the city police have launched a special drive to probe Long Pending Report (LPR ) cases and cracked 13 of such cases in the month of January including a POCSO and a murder case reported in the year 1993.

The accused have been track down arrested and produced before the court for further procedure .
