Former BJP Corporator and Congress MLA Padmaraj Arrested for Threatening BJP MLA Gopalaiah

The Kamakshipalya police on Wednesday booked former councilor and taken him into custody for questioning for allegedly threatening BJP MLA from the Mahalakshmi Layout Constituency in Bengaluru.

Mr.Gopalaiah in his complaint to the police and also raised the issue at the Assembly during zero hour that he is facing threat to his life and to his family members and demanded necessary action.

Senior officer told reporters that Padmaraj had an old rivalry with Gopalaiah and allegedly threatened him over a financial matter.

He further said that an FIR has been registered and the accused in this connection has been taken into custody for questioning.

The inquiry is still in a preliminary stage and investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the alleged threat,he said.

Earlier in the day Gopalaiah has also complained to Speaker UT Khader and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.

He has also written to Police Commissioner B Dayananda seeking protection for his family.

Many BJP leaders backed Gopalaiah’s claim and demanded the ruling party to take action against the accused .

BJP MLA and former Minister K Gopalaiah on Wednesday told the Legislative Assembly that he and his family have received death threats from an ex-Corporator of the city’s civic body and demanded protection.

Alleging that Padmaraj called him last night in an inebriated condition and used derogatory language against him and his family, he said, despite a complaint being filed immediately, police had still not arrested him.
