Bengaluru: Family of 3 suspected to have died by suicide due to debt in JP Nagar

n a tragic incident,a 48-year-old woman ended life along with her twin sons under mysterious circumstances while her unwell husband was sleeping in the bedroom of the house situated in JP Nagar third stage on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Sukanya,48,wife of Jayananda and her two sons,Nischith and Nikhith.

The victim had gone to her husband room with a glass of milk and newspaper and returned.She had locked the door from outside before taking the extreme step.

The victim along with her sons charred bodies were found in the hall of the house next to a live wire.The police suspected that one of the victims held on the wire to end lives.

The incident came to light when neighbours noticed smoke and burnt smell from the house and alerted the police.

Police rushed to the spot and found the trio dead and shifted the bodies to the hospital.

Inquiries revealed that Jayananda native of Udupi was running a small outlet which had incurred huge loss due to covid.The family incurred huge amount of loan and could not return.

While Sukanya was giving private tuitions to take of the house hold expenses,her son Nischit,a physically challenged was working from home part time.

The other son Nikhit worked in a private firm quit job and was unemployed since four months.Police suspect that the family was under heavy pressure to repay the loan and Jayananda was bedridden due to this.

This could be one othe reason for their extreme step, the police said while awaiting for the post mortem report to ascertain the reason and cause of death .
