Cottonpet police booked Shobha Karandlaje,for hate speech,Karnataka High Court stays FIR against BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje

The Karnataka High Court on Friday stayed proceedings in a case registered against Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shobha Karandlaje in connection with remarks made linking the March 1 bomb blast at Rameshwaram Café to persons from Tamil Nadu.

Justice Krishna  S Dixit passed the interim order on a plea by Karandlaje to quash the first information report (FIR) registered in the matter by the Cottonpet Police Station.

The Cottonpet police on Thursday registered an FIR against,union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje for her hate speech during a protest against the government and the police over the attack on shop keeper in Nagarepete in Halasuru gate police station limits on March 17.

Based on the direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI),the state chief Election officials filed a complaint following which Ms.Karandlaje charged under various section of promotion of hatred and waging war,for her hate speech against the people of Tamil Nadu.

The FIR has been registered under sections 123 (3A) (promoting hatred), 125 (waging war) of the Indian Penal Code, and section 123 (3) of the Representation of People Act .

Ms. Karandlaje participating the protest along with Bengaluru central and north MPs and MLA and other BJP party members,alleged that the Rameshwaram cafe blast accused had come from Tamilnadu.

This has kicked up a major controversy as she said that the accused person comes from Tamilnadu and plants a bomb in a cafe.

Another man comes from Delhi and raises pro-Pak slogans in the Vidhan Soudha.Another man comes from Kerala and throws acid at college students.

The TN government took strong exception and complained to the authorities concerned seeking action against her for communal comments.
