City police to reintroduce police public beat system to contain crimes such as house break theft,vehicle theft and robberies.

City police commissioner,B.Dayananda said that re introducing Volunteer Beat at local level with public support will not only bridge the gap but also helps contain crimes .

He was speaking at the ‘Jana Samparka Sabhe’ held in Mahalakshmi Layout on Saturday.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said the police are contemplating starting the new beat in Vijayanagar and Chandra Layout police limits.

Recalling that the city police have had initiatives like ‘Neighbourhood Police’ and ‘Police Volunteers’ earlier, Dayananda said.

“The implementation of a volunteer beat requires public cooperation,so as to solve cases of robbery and burglary at night.”.

There were such initiatives earlier under different names but it was stopped due to some issue of misusing the initiative,he said .

The jurisdictional police have involved residents of the localities to accompany them for night best voluntarily to keep their neighborhood safe.

This will also inculcate the sense of duties and responsibilities towards the society.

The police have created awareness among the residents on does and don’ts about their safety.

This includes locking the houses while going out and walking on the roads and keeping an eye on suspicious activities in their localities.

Owner of a jewellery shop and member of jewellers association has raised a concern on habitual offender visiting their shops on the pretext of either buying or selling gold.

The jewellers have a software developed to identify such elements he said requesting police to help them with police integrate their software with police software of identifying suspects will help them not only secure their shop but helps the law and order situation.

Mr.Dayananda appreciate the suggestion and said that he will discuss this and study the pros and cons to take it forward.

Meanwhile one of the jewellers identified as Srikanth V has been facilitated for helping the police to catch some habitual offenders who had come to steal in the shops posing as customers .

Experienced jewellers should know and gets an fake idea about the client by his behaviour and close looks. In such situations the jewellers can alert the police,he said.

Apart from hoysala patrolling service the city police are also roping in cheetah,the two wheelers patroling team into service to be first responders and attend any eventualities he said .
