Kunigal Waterman found hanging after assaulted by a group for campaigning for BJP

A 56-year-old waterman from Kichavadi village ended life by hanging to the water tank in an inebriated state in the wee hours of Friday.

The deceased identified as Chandrashekhar climbed up the water tank and threatened to jump while family members, villagers and police reached the spot to convince him to come down.

Few minuets later,he tied a rope around his neck to the ladder and jumped down before hanging .

He was rushed to Kunigal hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Considering the sensitivity of the case additional deployment was made with a platoon of KSRP at the Kunigal hospital and another platoon in the village to ensure election process , a senior police officer, said.

The police have taken up a case of un natural death and are investigating. Meanwhile the family members of the deceased alleged that Chandrashekhar was assaulted by congress party workers for supporting BJP party, which led to take him to the extreme step .

The family alleged that the congress party workers assaulted and humiliated him threatening him with dire consequences and even said that they will ensure that he will be sacked from the job.

However the police, said that the family members did not file any complaint in this regard.
