Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya booked for seeking ‘votes on ground of religion’

Jayanagar police have registered a FIR against BJP’s Bengaluru South candidate and MP Tejasvi Surya for soliciting votes on religious grounds.

The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer in a statement posted on the microblogging website X said Mr.Surya had posted a video on social media “soliciting votes on the ground of religion”.

The case has been filed with Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru.

Surya allegedly sought votes on Ram Mandira and asked people to vote for Modi for a better and secured and future .

Mr.Surya who is known for his controversial statements also posted a video asking BJP voters vote more to increase the percentage against the opposition party voters.

The BJP voters are 80 percent but they vote only 20 per cent. While the Congress has 20 per cent and their turnout will be 80 per cent, he reportedly said.

Based on the complaint the police have registered a case under RP act .The police seek the permission of court to further investigation.
