Man booked for smoking on Indigo flight from Dubai to Bengaluru

The Kempegowda International airport police on Sunday arrested a 31-year-old passenger for smoking in the Dubai to Bengaluru bound flight on board .

Based on the complaint filed by Punith BM,manager security of airport operations and customers service, the police arrested Mohammed Aslam Halaipotra Najir from Porbandar in Gujarat charging him under section 278 ( Making atmosphere noxious to health) and section 336 (endanger human life or personal safety of others ) of IPC.

The flight crew noticed him smoking in onboard and flagged him as unruly passenger before alerting the authorities .

He was detained by the security as soon as the flight was landed and handed over to the police. The police are now probing how he sourced the banned items hoodwinking the security checks .

Police probing hoax email to airport :

Meanwhile the airport police have registered an FIR against an Unknown person for sending threat mail to bomb the airport on April 29.

Geetha Rani,terminal manager said that the mail was sent to feed back airport email id informing that series of bombs have been planted hoodwinking the security which will explode in few hours.

The mailer also claimed to be from a terrorist group and said that it was not a threat .

An elaborate security check was launched before concluded to be hoax.The staff approached the court and got direction following which the police registered an FIR against the unknown accused charging him under section 505(1) B (Statements conducing public mischief ) and 507 ( criminal intimidation ) on Thursday for further investigation.

The complainant also shared the IP address of the sender in the complaint .
