BTP warns errant vehicle riders as Speed trap cameras are now active on the roads leading to Kempegowda International Airport says MN Anucheth IPS

Concerned about the growing number of accidents due to rash driving and over speeding on the busy Kempegowda International Airport road,traffic police on Monday installed as many as eight high resolution speed trap enforcement cameras to monitor high speed vehicles.

Joint Commissioner of Police,Traffic, MN Anucheth, said that the cameras installed at the strategic locations along the stretch backed by AI technology to detect vehicles which are moving beyond 80 KMs per hour on the 34 kilometer stretch .

The cameras as self driven to track and record vehicles to automatically challen over speeding violations for those vehicles which are exceeding the prescribed speed limits, he said .

According to him,a total of 110 accidents reported on airport road in the last four months upto April 30 this year.

Out of the total 110 cases as many as 30 people were killed in 29 fatal cases while 111 sustained injuries in the remaining non fatal cases.

According to the statistics,87 people were killed and 278 were injured in total 322 accidents reported in the year 2023.

The traffic police have taken many initiatives to contain over speeding incoming vehicles from airport,the fatal cases are on the rise and rash driving and over speeding is one of the major reasons,he said .
