CID arrests former MD of D Devaraja Arasu truck terminal over alleged misappropriation of Rs.47 crore scam

The CID officials on Monday arrested S.Shankarappa Deputy Director of the information and public relations for alleged misappropriation of ₹ 47 crore scam in D Deveraj Urs truck terminal limited,where he worked as Managing Director .

The CID investigation found that Shankarappa had approved payments to the contact works which were not done at all.

The CID,which is probing the alleged misappropriation of funds in D Devraj Urs Truck Terminals Limited (DDUTTL),a state government undertaking,confirmed that the DDUTTL has suffered a loss of Rs 47.10 crore.

Shankarappa who was now taken into custody for further investigation,alleged to have created documents to approval the money for the tender work which never took place.

In 2021 October,a meeting was organized to discuss the proposed renovation work for the terminal and was decided to give the contract on piece work basis .

Shankarappa allegedly created fake documents and sanctioned the money even though work was not done.

The scam came to light when present MD,CN Shivaprakash verified the documents and filed a complaint with the wilson garden police on 23 September 2023.

The CID took over the case and after a detailed probe it was confirmed that DDUTTL has suffered a loss of Rs. 47.10 crore and 782 files related to illegal work orders have been seized during the recent raid.

Following the investigation the police arrested Shankarappa who had applied for anticipatory bail.
