The Parappana Agrahara police on Friday arrested a gang of four and recovered 31 motorcycles and a 10 grams of gold chain worth ₹ 45 lakh from them.
The accused are habitual offenders having a pocso and a robbery case pending against them are from Vellore in Tamilnadu.
The accused according to the police would come to city in a cab and move around the residential localities to identify parked bikes outside the houses.
The accused would then break the hand locks and ride away crossing the border area to reach their native.The accused would then sell the stolen bikes for throwaway prices and used the money for vices for few days before coming to the city to commit the crime,a senior officer, said.
Based on a bike theft case,the Parappana Agrahara police stepped up the vigil at the check posts and intercepted two of the accused red handed .
Based on their confession, the police arrested two more and recovered the stolen bikes from the rural areas in the rural parts of Tamilnadu including in Gudiyattam,Madhanur and Sengundram villages and also some villages in the bordering Karnataka and Tamilnadu without documents .
With their arrest the police also cracked a chain snatching case where the accused using a stolen motorcycle robbed 10 grams of gold chain from her.
