Software Engineer admitted for rehabilitation allegedly ended life,Rehab centre booked for negligence

The Yelahanka police have registered a case of death due to negligence against the rehab centre at Kattigenahalli after 28-year-old software engineer admitted for rehabilitation allegedly ended life.

Based on the complaint by Ankita,26,a techie from whitefield,the Yelahanka police charged Souvik,owner of Rehab centre for further investigations.

The victim,Nikhita,who was also a techie by profession, suffered from depression after her engagement broke up with her male friend.

Based on doctor’s advise the family admitted her to the light house rehab centre for six months after searching about the rehab and reading the reviews on May 20 .

The family used to visit Nikhita frequently but on June 7, rehab centre owner Souvik called her to inform that Nikhita had consumed Dettol liquid and asked her to come to the centre.

When Ankita visited the centre later the staff told her that they had given her medicine and Nikhita is recovering.They asked her to go back.

However Ankita waited outside the rehab centre at around 11.30 pm and returned to her paying guest accommodation .

At around 2 am she received a phone call from rehab centre stating that Nikhita was not responding and they are taking her to hospital .

Ankita rushed to the hospital and found that Nikhita was dead.She accused the rehab centre for not providing immediate medical treatment to her sister which resulted in the death.
