The Halasuru police have arrested a 36-year-old domestic help for stealing 16 lakh worth gold valuables six months ago belonging to the mother of the house owner where she was working .
The accused was working at the house situated on Marappa road in Jogupalya belonging to a businessman for many years and had gained their confidence .
The family on November last year had gone out of station to attend a family function when the accused using the almirah stolen 223 grams of gold valuables belonging to the mother of the house owner,and melted the valuables at home to make it solid gold and kept at home to get new design jewels for her .
The owner of the house did not check the valuables belonging to his mother died an year ago until recently and opened the locker on June 7 to check and found the valuables missing .
Based on the complaint,the police conducted spot investigation and found that there was no force entry and suspected the role of domestic help who had access to the house .
The police picked her up for questioning where she confessed to the crime and returned the solid gold along with a pair of bangles stolen from the house total worth Rs 16 lakh .
The accused has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody .
