The KS Layout police on Monday arrested a gang of four including two women and recovered 174 grams of gold valuables worth Rs.11 lakh from them.
The accused identified as Babu Sab,45,Hussain Bi,52, Dadapeer,32 and Gulab Jan,42 from Bharamasagara in Tumakuru used to come to the temple as devotees and steal gold chains from the devotees making use of the heavy rush at the temple.
Based on a complaint by a home maker on March 15 that she had lost 24 grams of gold chain,a team of police deployed in mufti in and around the temple to keep an eye.
The police after many days of watch,zeroed in on the gang and caught them while they were waiting in a car near the temple to identify the victim to rob valuables .
Probe revealed that the accused would commute in car frequently on the busy day where devotees come to pay their visit.
The stolen valuables the accuse would sell to jewellers in Tumakuru .
Based on their information the police have issued notice to the jewellers and recovered 174 grams of gold valuables sold by the gang.
The police have taken the accused into custody to ascertain their criminal background .
