Internet Desk: Studying in Australia will become more burdensome for students. The country has drastically increased the fees to be paid by the students who study there from other countries. The fee, which was earlier 473 US dollars, has now been increased to 1,068 dollars. It came into effect from 1st July. This decision was taken in order to forcefully control migration. Currently, the number of people coming and settling there from many parts of the world is at an all-time high. As a result it is affecting the home marketing sector.
Temporary graduate, visitor and maritime crew visa holders are ineligible to apply for a student visa even if they are in Australia. This decision will affect thousands of Indians currently living in that country.
All these changes in the rules will come into force from today (July 1). We have taken this decision to make our international education system stronger. We have taken these measures only to strengthen the country,” said Clare O’Neill, the country’s Home Secretary.
The government has decided to allow only genuine students to get visas in Australia and it will give a boost to the country’s economy. It also prevents foreign students from overstaying by exploiting loopholes in the visa system. According to the country’s Bureau of Statistics statistics, 5,48,000 people migrated in the year ending September 30, 2023. 1,00,009 people from India have registered in Australian universities in 2022 alone. And from January 2023 to September, there are 1.22 lakh students. Australia student visa is more expensive compared to USA and Canada. In those countries, it is 185 dollars and 110 dollars. In Australia, it is 1,068 dollars.
