Unknown person posing as police officer from Delhi extorted Rs.7000 from private firm employee promising to drop drug case against his daughter

The North Division Cyber Crime Police on Wednesday registered a case against unknown person who posing as Police officer from Delhi extorted Rs.7,000 from a private firm employee promising to drop drug case charges against his daughter.

Based on the complaint filed by Srinivas Nageshwara Rao,the police charged the accused under 66C (identity theft) under IT Act for further investigation.

Mr.Rao said that the accused called him on his mobile phone on Tuesday and introduced himself as police officer from Delhi.

He further said that the police have arrested Rao’s daughter for consuming drugs and taking her to Delhi .

He also offered to help him and drop the charges if he pay ₹ 15,000.Trusting him Mr.Rao transferred ₹ 7,000 online but later on suspicion called his daughter and found that she was in the college safe and sound.

Realizing that he has been cheated Mr.Rao approached the North CEN police and filed a complaint along with the contact number of the accused .

This is the latest form of cyber fraud said a police officer asking people not to entertain and trust any unknown calls .
