Former AEE of BESCOM convicted in disproportionate assets case and sentenced three years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs.1 Crore by special Lokayukta court

The Lokayukta special court convicted Assistant Executive Engineer of BESCOM in a Disproportionate Assets case and sentenced him with three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹ one crore .

The Lokayukta had registered a case against C. Ramalingaiah under Prevention of Corruption Act on September 2011 on the charges of possessing disproportionate assets .

A team of officials led by the then Deputy Superintendent of Police,Abdul Aahad and team raided his office and premises and found that Ramalingaiah had a total assets worth over ₹ 1.03 crore which is 44.6 per cent more to his known source of income and filed a detailed charge sheet against the accused .

The judge KM Radhakrishna also ordered Ramalingaiah to undergo four months simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine amount.
