Police personnel of central range including Mandya, Ramanagar,Tumakuru,Chikkaballapura and Bengaluru district stepped up vigil to track down two men on stolen motorcycle created a fear psychosis among the residents with their chain snatching spree.
The two men who are on the prowl on the stolen motorcycles went on chain snatching spree and involved in series of chain snatching targeting women and senior citizen.
As many as six cases have been reported in the past four days and red alert have been sounded in these districts to track down the accused .
The police analyzed CCTV footage and managed to gather some details to ascertain the identity of the accused,they are yet to be caught as they are on the move,a senior police officer,said .
The police have put up barricades at the entry and exit of their jurisdiction and also creating awareness through public announcement system and on awareness campaign on the social media to create awareness among the residents .
Senior police officials have put out posts on social media account advising people especially women to not move around in isolated areas wearing valuables .
Keep a distance from the unknown people confronting on bikes and keep a watch on their movements and record their identity, a senior officer, said on his advisory .
“Shout out loud”in case of eventuality and avoid wearing valuables while venturing out for morning and evening walks,the officer,added .
The advisory was not well taken by the residents who vent ire on the police.The residents said that the police instead of stepping up vigil and arresting the accused, they are putting the onus on the public,a resident,who is frustrated over routine vehicle checks at the barricade put up by police,said .
However police justified the action stating prevention is better than cure .
