In a swift action,the Magadi police on Tuesday arrested a 34-year-old labourer from Goripalya for kidnapping his four year old relative and raped her before dumping the body in roadside in Thippagondanahalli in Magadi police station limits in Ramanagar district on Saturday.
The accused visited the house of the victim on Saturday lured the girl to get her ice cream and took her away.
When the child did not return home even after evening, worried parents started to search for the girl and came to know that the accused identified as Irfan Khan was seen with the victim at a shop for the last time .
The parents called Irfan who feigned ignorance and later switched off the phone.
Based on the complaint,the police registered a case of missing and analyzed the CCTV cameras to finds the girl was moving along with the accused on Thippagondahalli road and conducted a search operation to recover the dead body.
The police shifted the body to post mortem before launched a massive manhunt and track down Irfan in Kalasiplaya where he was hiding .
The accused had been booked under kidnap,rape and murder and also under various sections of POCSO act for further investigation.
Irfan worked as labourer at Kalasipalya and also a habitual offender having cases of pick pockets pending against him,a senior police officer, said.
As the news of arrest spread in the town,family and relatives of victim,staged a massive protest demanding strict action against the accused .
