Delhi: A study by Stanford University scientists in America has concluded that eating a vegan diet can reduce the physical age. This is said to cause the bodily organs and systems to become ‘youthful’. As part of the research, 21 identical twins were studied for 8 weeks. There is a significant degree of genetic similarity between these types of twins. These twins were separated and divided into two groups. One group was given a diet consisting of meat, eggs and dairy products. The second group ate a completely vegan diet. The average age of these examinees is 40 years. Everyone is obese.

When tested after 8 weeks, it was revealed that the age of the heart, liver, inflammatory and metabolic systems of the vegan group members was lower than their actual age. These changes were not seen in the non-vegetarian group. Those on a vegan diet were found to lose an average of 2 kg. Due to this, it is believed that this may be the main reason for the reduction of their physical age.
