n a swift action,the Konanakunte police arrested a 25-year-old cab driver who was on the run after molesting a home maker who was on morning walk in a residential area in Kothanur in Konanakunte in the early hours of Friday.
The victim was going for a morning walk and waiting for her friend to join when the accused identified as Suresh followed her for few meters accosted and molested her before fleeing the spot .
Shocked victim raised alarm and later narrated her ordeal with the family members who alerted the police.
An Assistant Sub Inspector who was on duty,visited the spot and advised the victim to file a complaint for further action.
However he neglected the incident and did not even brought to the notice of his higher ups .
However a CCTV camera installed in one of the house where the victim was attacked captured the incident and it went viral on social media prompting the police to take action.
Based on the footage the police track down the accused and arrested him on the charges of stalking, wrongful restrain,Assault or use of Criminal Force to Woman with Intent to Outrage Her Modesty,sexual harassment and stalking .
Inquiries revealed that Suresh used to pick up and drop corporate employees and residing in Kothanur Dinne .
He was on his way on his way to pick up customers when he the accused noticed the victim moving alone and attacked her .
The accused was later picked up by police after he returned from work,a senior officer, said.
Meanwhile taking serious note on the negligence part of the ASI and two constables on duty,who failed to act on the incident and failed to inform their seniors about the incident has been suspended and departmental inquiry has been ordered said,Lokesh B Jagalsar,DCP, South Division.
