Krishna Chivukula: Donation of Rs.228 crores to IIT Madras for my happiness

I donated Rs.228 crore to IIT Madras. No other university in the country has ever received such a large sum of money at once. Some are asking why I am doing all this.

Today, Chennai: ‘I have donated Rs.228 crores to IIT Madras. No other university in the country has ever received such a large sum of money at once. Some are asking why I am doing all this. I should be happy.. so that my health is good. I am not expecting anything more,’ said Krishna Chivukula, Chairman of Indo Mim. He arrived here from America on Tuesday to present his recently announced huge donation to IIT Madras. He spoke at a press conference organized on the occasion.

Even though he has been in America for 55 years. Rich people give generous donations to the universities there. They stand financially to increase education, health and eradicate poverty in the society. For many years I feel strongly that I should serve my country. I have seen that even the Americans are surprised to see the engineers coming from IIT Madras. That’s where I studied. That’s why I want to start my charitable activities from here. These funds provide scholarships to poor students at IIT Madras. Athletes get encouragement. Availability of funds for magazines published from campus. Krishna Chivukula revealed that the campus will not have any collision for 25 years in five categories. It has been mentioned that industries have already been set up in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and they will be expanded further. As a mark of Krishna Chivuk’s services, the authorities have named an academic block in IIT Madras after him. Director of IIT Madras Professor V. Kamakoti and others participated in the meeting.
