30-year-old eight month pregnant woman was killed when a speeding truck knocked down the scooter and run over her near Yadehalli in Nelamangala on NH 4 on Wednesday morning.
The deceased Sinchana was returning to their village Thotanahalli after visiting a temple at Shivagange ganapathy temple.Manjunath is engineer working at a private firm in Chennai sustained minor injuries in the accident .
Senior officer visited the spot and after inspecting said that the couple were riding on the national highway when a KSRTC bus moving ahead stopped suddenly to avoid an accident.
Due to this manjunath moving behind the bus applied brakes but the tipper truck coming behind him carrying sand load applied brakes but failed to stop.Due to this he knock down the vehicle as the couple fell down due to the impact and Sinchana came under the wheels and crushed to death.
The Nelamangala traffic police rushed to the spot and arrested the driver and seized the vehicle for further investigation.
Superintendent of police CK Baba visited the accident spot and took stock of the situation.
It was a sensitive zone and over fatal 90 road accidents occurred in the last six months,a senior police officer, said .
The police are inspecting the area to access the road conditions and discussing efforts to minimize the accident he added.
