Don’t charge us that much money… that’s why we’re giving it!

No matter how much wealth you have, do you think ‘money is enough’? But the couple felt the same way. Hence, they donated Rs.228 crores for the students of IIT Madras.

No matter how much wealth you have, do you think ‘money is enough’? But the couple felt the same way. Hence, they donated Rs.228 crores for the students of IIT Madras. He says that he is helping crores of rupees for the health of the poor and the education of orphans with love for the country . Jagadamba Chivukula … Director of the world famous ‘Indo Mim’ company. ‘Vasundhara’ had a special talk with her who recently came to IIT Madras.

Ma the Karnataka. After doing MBBS in Bangalore Medical College, I went to US to study MD. We met Krishna Chivukula there. He is from Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh. He completed Aerospace Engineering and M.Tech in IIT Madras and came there. Accidentally meeting, becoming friends, understanding each other and getting married happened. If we remember our journey all these years.. we feel lucky to have met. Even in America.. our thoughts are always about India. Hence, we have set up our ‘Indo Mim’ company headquarters in Karnataka. Through this we have introduced Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology to India for the first time.

For the word given to the mother-in-law…

It was 1994… we came to Hyderabad. My mother-in-law Lalitashree is a lawyer. A socially conscious woman. A charity organization was established and education was given to poor children. Many became doctors and engineers because of her. One day she called both of us and said, ‘This service is very satisfying. I am very happy to see light in their lives. You should also serve, help the four people’, he said. After going to US we both had the same thoughts. We have taken a decision after thinking well.. Now our steps are towards the poor. ‘Indo Mim’, of which we are the Chairman and I am the Director, is now the largest mim capacity company in the world. We started the mid-day meal scheme in government primary and high schools four years after the company was established in India. We are still providing food to 2500 people per day in those schools. As a result, the attendance of children is increasing significantly. We were very happy to see the celebration of the parents that their children were getting educated. We have adopted a school in Chamarajanagar district. Orphan and poor children are studying here. The people of Sweden, Germany and France also came here and studied the way of teaching lessons. Children are the beneficiaries and are getting jobs. This is a matter of pride for us. We have donated 65 lakh dollars to the Tampa General Hospital there to treat the poor in America. Now we have given Rs.228 crores to IIT Madras. It is not part of CSR, it is taken out of the company’s shares.

In the past, Indians were said to have low self-confidence. We have grown companies with rigorous initiation to show our self-confidence. Be number one in the world. Now the Americans themselves are saying.. that ‘Indians are not ordinary people, they are more self-confident’. Currently we are expanding our companies. Our products are exported to 45 countries. A turnover of Rs.1000 crores per year. We don’t need that much money. Enough to live comfortably. We want to spend the rest for the welfare of the poor. We have a desire to help wherever needed. I don’t know how far this journey will go. We continue as long as we have breath
