One dead,another injured in pressure cooker explosion near Bengaluru’s Udupi Upahara restaurant:NIA launches probe

21-year-old barber was killed and another injured when a cooker lid exploded while they were cooking at the terrace of the house where they living in Puttenahalli on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Mohsin,while his roommate Azhar native of Amroha town in Uttar Pradesh,sustained burn injuries and being treated at the hospital .

The incident occurred at the 24th Main on Puttenahalli when the victim were preparing food.The two were working in a barbershop on the first floor of the building and stayed in a small 10×10 room above it,a senior officer said.

Prima facie it appears that the lid of the cooker blew off and since the room was small and cluttered something caught fire and the duo sustained third degree burn injuries .

Senior police officials rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed probe including NIA and ruled out any foul play as there was no trace of chemical or explosive material .

As the rumours of blast spread like a wildfire,residents panicked as few media houses and even Bengaluru Central MP, PC Mohan tweeted expressing concern and stating “Concerned about the mysterious blast in Bengaluru on 12th August.The suspicious explosion critically injured Mohseen and Sameer.Mohseen succumbed to his injuries.The NIA is investigating. Authorities must remain vigilant ahead of #IndependenceDay2024 celebrations” .

On Wednesday a team of NIA officials and officials from CID,FSL team and others visited the scene and conducted a detailed probe to ascertain the facts .

Police officials advised people to refrain from any kind of rumours and maintain peace .
