Two engineering dropouts arrested by Vidyaranyapura police and recovered 25 stolen bikes,two laptops,six mobiles worth Rs.26 Lakhs

The Vidyaranyapura police have arrested two engineering dropouts and recovered 25 stolen bikes,six mobile phones,two laptops total worth Rs.26 lakh from them.

The accused,Raghavendra 25,from Koppal and his associate Saitej,24,Gangavathy used to tamper the chasis and engine numbers of the stolen bikes,create fake documents to sell on e-commerce website (OLX).

According to the police,the duo used to study in a same college and dropped out due to poor academic performance and started to steal bikes .

The accused had rented a house in Hunasamaranahalli, move around residential areas to identify parked bikes and steal them.

The accused had even mastered the art of tempering the engine and chasis numbers and create a fake vehicle documents to sell it on OlX,for throwaway prices,a senior officer,said .

The accused would even steal more then two to three bikes per day and park them in a vacant site at Ramachandrapura near airport,till they create fake documents and sell them.

Based on a series of bike thefts,a team of police track down the accused and recovered the stolen bikes.The accused were involved in over 20 bike theft cases reported in and around the city and even in Andhra Pradesh.The accused used to spend the booty on vices lavishly .

City police commissioner,B.Dayananda appreciated the police work and advised people to ensure safety of their vehicles.
