Medicine: Center ban on 156 medicines

The central government has banned 156 types of medicines on the grounds that they pose a threat to patients. They are mainly used as medicines for fever, cold, pains and allergies.

Delhi: The central government has banned 156 types of medicines on the grounds that they may pose a threat to patients. They are mainly used as medicines for fever, cold, pains and allergies. Combination drugs are also known as cocktail drugs, which combine two or more active drugs in a fixed dose. Aceclofenac 500 mg + Paracetamol 125 mg tablets, Mefenamic acid + Paracetamol injection, Cetirizine HCL + Paracetamol + Phenylephrine HCL, Levocetirizine + Phenylephrine HCL + Paracetamol are on the list of prohibited drugs. To this extent, a notification was released on 12th of this month. It stated that the use of fixed dose combination (FDC) drugs is inviting risk when safer alternative drugs are available.
