A 37-year-old doctor was attacked and assaulted by a 35-year-old hotel cook who was brought by police to Shree Sai Multi Speciality Hospital in Bettadasanapur for treatment on Monday night .
The accused identified as Ashsih,native of Nepal was detained by police for creating ruckus on the road under the influence of drugs.
The accused had banged his head against the car and sustained injuries for which the police brought him to the hospital to get treatment and left after handing him over to the doctors .
As part of the social service initiative,Dr.Nagendrappa admitted Ashish treated his injuries and admitted as in patient for further treatment.
While the two nurse were trying to dress him and administer IV fluids,Ashish who was under intoxication became agressive and ransacked the room and picked up a knife and charged towards the nurses.
While the duo nurses cried for help and ran out while Ashish was branding a scissor chased them. Hearing the commotion Dr.Nagendrappa rushed to their help and tried to pacify Ashish.
But the accused attacked Dr.Nagendrappa slashing his lips with the scissor and hands and even bit the doctor .
The other rushed to the help and with great difficulty pinned down Ashish before alerting the police. Panic gripped among the staff and other patients and their attendants due to the commotion which went for around 15 minutes .
The police rushed to the spot and handcuffed the accused to continue his treatment at the hospital before he was taken into custody.
Dr.Nagendra who received the treatment for his injuries termed the incident as part of his job.The hospital did not charge any fee instead suffered major loss at the hospital along with the injuries to the doctor on duty .
Based on the complaint,the police registered a case against the Ashish charging him under the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Medicare service personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act and also under section 115 ( voluntary causing hurt) of BNS for further investigation.
The hospital staff who are under the shock said that they are living under constant fear because of such unruly patients.Last week the hospital was under attack by the relatives of Patient who died due to cardiac arrest soon after arrival .
