illing potholes and cleaning clogged road have been part of the Bengaluru traffic police work as the civic agencies turned deaf ears .

Concerned over the frequent traffic congestion due to potholes the KR Puram traffic police on Saturday filled the potholes by sourcing cement and crushed stones from the passing by truck carrying the material .

It was a bad patch of road with couple of potholes on the busy road on Muthumariyamma temple road near Metro station,a senior officer, said .

Due to this the traffic was slow down and due to cascading effect vehicle used to pile up,he recalled .

“We have raised this issue many times with the BBMP officials but the problem persisted.Since the onus of traffic management is on us,we have took road engineering too”,he quipped .

The video of traffic policeman in uniform filling potholes went viral on social media and many people vent their ire on the BBMP officials for their irresponsible behaviour.

Many X users have even tagged the video with the senior police officers requesting to stop the policemen from doing this as they are trained for traffic management and not road engineering .

This is not the first time, the potholes have been filled on the same spot by the traffic police thrice before, but every time during due to rain the potholes comes back, another officer said .

We have asked the BBMP officials to get the road repair scientifically to make the stretch pothole free and for the smooth flow of traffic”,he said .

It may be recalled that the traffic police have filled potholes in many places across the city and even cleared the clogged roads and flyover due to heavy rains and removed the silt.

This is the work should be done by BBMP officials concerned but we cant wait for their time to get the work done.

Senior officials with the traffic department had instructed their staff to remove the obstacles on road without waiting for BBMP response, to make the vehicles on the move.
