dmitting serious lapses in the high security Central Prison,Home Minister G.Paramershwar said that Chief Superintendent and Superintendent of Central prison are among the nine staff members suspended pending inquiry.
Addressing the media after his visit to the prison, Mr.Parameshwara said that initial probe revealed lapses on part of Chief Superintendent Sheshamurthy and Superintendent Mallikarjunaswamy among the nine prison staff suspended .
The suspended staff will be replaced with the officials of integrity,he said.The suspended staff including those monitoring the CCTV cameras at the control room in the prison who failed to perform their duties.
It is unfortunate that despite high security features like advanced jammers and CCTV cameras,such incidents continue to take places unabated .
Mr.Parameshwara said that the security in the prison will be reviewed and the prison department is considering shifting Darshan and others to other prisons in the state.
Admitting that the negligence on part of the officials happened even before in case of fake stamp paper racket kingpin,Abdul Karim Telgi , Shashikala and others,Mr.Parameshwara said that the such incidents occurred due to the sheer negligence of the officials and action has been and will be taken to ensure such incident would not be repeated .
Three FIRS :
In order to conduct a detailed probe,three FIRs have been registered at the jurisdictional Parappana Agrahara prison against Darshan and his associates and the prison officials.A Senior police officer has been directed to supervise the investigations.
The cases are booked under violations of prison manual and also on the use of banned items in the prison. The investigations will be on who provided the cigarettes, tea and chairs to Darshan and also how the mobile phones were used despite high security .
