he state government can not decide on shifting the accused from Parappana Agrahara Prison and it should be done by prison authority after obtaining permission from the court concerned,Home Minister,G. Parameshwara said here on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on the development,Mr. Parameshwar said that there are some rules to be followed and the procedure is on and in all probability, Darshan will be shifted to other prison in a day or two .
The prison department is working on the rules to house the inmates to prevent such incidents in future.
Referring to the incident where Darshan along with two rowdy-sheeters sitting in the lawn of the prison and smoking along with a cup of tea,Mr.Parameshwar said that during his visit he came to know that Rowdy Sheeter Naga who was seen with Darshan was allowed to move from one barrack to another barrack .
The CCTV footage recording obtained to prove this based on which action has been taken and nine prison staff including two senior officials have been suspended .
Meanwhile an inquiry has been initiated led by a senior IPs officer to probe the entire incident and about the staff responsible for providing such facilities .
The Home department is seriously considering to bring reformation in the prison based on the report submitted by law minister HK Patil while he was chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in 2022.
The report of former Prime Minister,Manmohan Singh on police and prison reform will also be considered to improve the present prison system,he added .
The Home department is also probing the irregularities in other prisons across the state .
A committee headed by an IPS officer will be formed to probe and based on the report necessary action would be taken,he added.
During his visit to Hindalga prison earlier, some irregularities were found and rectified.Similar other district prisons including Shivamogga and Mangaluru wil lalso be inspected for necessary action.
Reacting to the opposition party allegation that the Darshan photos are viral to threaten the witness,Mr. Parameshwar said that the action will be taken under the legal frame work and the BJP should not take political milage out of this issue .
