The Dibburahalli police on Sunday arrested a 55-year-old farmer for cultivating Ganja plants with his maze cultivation in T Venkatapura village in Chikkaballapura district .
The accused Janamadugappa,confessed to the police that he was growing the plants to make extra money and supplying the kaccha products to the local peddlers for a cheaper price .
Based on a tip off,a team of police led by Police Sub Inspector Shyamala,raided the field and seized 17 plants including 12 plants which were cut and stored ready to be dispatched .
The total value of the seized plants estimated to be around Rs.1.05 lakh, the police,said .
A case under NDPS has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on to track down his network .
Following the incident, the police have stepped up the vigil to check possible cultivation of Ganja plants at local level .
This is the second incident in the recent past as the Yelahanka new town police in August recovered eight ganja plants in the Attur Cemetery in Yelahanka.
The police suspected that the seeds for these plants may have originated from discarded ganja or were intentionally planted by those involved in marijuana peddling.
