Manipur Internet Desk: The violence in Manipur, which has been raging for almost 16 months due to communal clashes, has taken a dangerous turn. Recently, the security forces were caught off guard as the militants started dropping bombs with drones like never before. It seems that NSG (National Security Force) experts have been deployed to curb this trend before it spreads. “This is another new dimension in ethnic clashes. We discussed this matter with the Director General of NSG and his team. The experts of that force will come here. We are taking steps to prevent drone attacks,” said Manipur DGP Rajiv Singh.

225 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the attacks that have been going on here since May last year. Thousands of people became homeless. Divided into mountain and plain people. Recently, armed drones have come into the hands of militants. This will greatly hamper the efforts of the security forces for peace here. Around 60,000 personnel of the central forces have already been deployed in that state.

Attacks with quadcopters

In recent drone attacks in Mekong village, bunkers of three Indian reserve battalions were damaged. Militants abducted INSAS, AK 47 and light machine guns from here. Those used in these attacks were identified as rotor-fitted quadcopters. These are usually used for taking pictures. It is believed that these were modified and used for the attack. Hobby FPV type drones are also likely to be equipped with some type of explosives. They can be used from a distance of about 500 meters to 5 kilometers. If changes are made, it is possible to operate from at least 15 km.

Officials are surprised that the militants are being trained, especially in the use of armed drones. It has recently become a matter of concern in Manipur. The Congress Party described these types of attacks as a major threat to national security. However, Raj Bhavan is not safe in Manipur.
